Description: This session will address the dining experience through the eyes of Dementia residents. Our overall mission is to provide socialization, increased food consumption, improved hydration, and dignified dining. We will review service standards, environmental aspects of the physical dining space, and share recommended practices for improving the dining experience for persons living with dementia.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify Dementia basics in correlation to the dining experience for all resident-facing staff 
  2. Examine recommended approaches and techniques to providing socialization, increased food consumption, improved hydration, and dignified dining
  3. Asses current social dining model and create plans to implement achievable improvements
